Not much rest last night. As I type this my eyes are very dry and they
are feeling just a tad like they may be bursting into flames at any second.
As I was about the creep up the stairs and slip into bed, LB let out a loud howl
and I realized that my plans for a nice night of rest were frelled!
I went and retrieved him from his bed and sat down in the rocker to give him a
drink, which he guzzled back like he'd not had one in days. (hmmm...
have I given him drinks lately? Scratches head)
Just kidding. So, after the drink I had hoped that the sweet little boy
would settle down and once again pass out in my arms, no such luck.
I lay on the sofa holding him, hoping that he might pass out there. And he
did, sort of.
He fell asleep alright. But it wasn't a nice calm and restful sleep.
Oh no. His was a sleep full of fits and tossing and turning. And I
lay on that sofa all night long holding him because it seemed to help him a
little bit. But what that meant for me was no sleep, not much anyway.
At 4:30 LB woke up, looked deep into my eyes as he raised his head and gave
me a huge smile. Just seconds before he lost head control and basically
his head crashing down into my head was the equivalent of a very good head bonk.
I saw stars folks. Stars!
Of course it was the same as every other time my son has physically caused me
pain. Tears sprang to my eyes, my head felt like it had exploded, or at
least blown a nice sized hole in my forehead. And LB, well he was fine as
a pancake. Only now he had no interest in snuggling with Mommy, now he
wanted to get on his mat on the floor, roll around and watch some early morning
children's television.
Myself, I returned to the sofa, curled up and got comfy. I managed to
sleep until 6:30 when I had to get up and get Dot moving..
So, as far as ground hogs and weather forecasting go it seems that the one in
Pennsylvania saw his shadow but pretty much every where else the ground hogs
didn't. Now Pete has been doing the longest (as far as I know) but I'm
wondering if perhaps he might be wrong this year?
Of course it all seems pretty funny that everyone has been going on about Spring
coming early and stuff when actually we never really had a winter so far.
But I believe that it's on its way. Normally during some part of February
and/or March we shall get our teeth kicked in by some last little winter storm
action. We've even gotten them in April, so lets not get too rejoiceful
yet!
I don't have much else to say right now. I wish I had more. But I don't. I've been having trouble getting myself into the writing spirit lately. I've been scribbling in my journal before bedtime each night, my last random thoughts of the day. But even they aren't much inspired. Time to push myself over this hump.
