Woke up this morning, rolled over and noticed that Hubby's side of the bed
was empty. This is most unusual. Normally he's lying there, snoring away like a
chainsaw.
Matter of fact it didn't look like his side of the bed had been slept in at all.
I had gone to bed before Hubby because I was exhausted last night. Had Hubby
ever come to bed, I wondered.
I climbed out of bed, stumbled blindly down the hall to Dot's room where I
flipped the light on and gently nudged her to get out of bed. When that didn't
work I tossed her clean clothes onto her head and gave a shout. She sat up and
looked at me in a daze, but she started to move.
I headed down the stairs to find Hubby sitting in not only the same spot he had
been in when I went to bed, but in almost the exact same position.
"Did you come to bed last night?" I asked as I made my way to the kitchen to put
the kettle on.
"Yeah, but around 2 I had an asthma attack, it just ended a bit ago. I'm not in
a good way." He answered without missing a beat, playing his game. The same game
that I have declared I hate, hate, hate.
"So you never really went to bed for the night, it was more like a cat nap,
huh?" By this point the kettle had been filled and turned on and I'd made my way
back over to the Hubby, so I saw his tired little nod.
I gave him a hug and headed over to the sofa where I sat down and proceeded to
check out the morning weather, traffic and new reports.
Chris Penn has passed away, My Name is Earl is on hold right now while the star
recovers from the chicken pox, snow squall warnings in some part of the Ontario
region (I heard somewhere around Sarnia, but I wasn't really paying attention at
that point), Judge rules that father and son can sue hockey league that banned
the boy from playing because of father's poor conduct, stupid Tory leader Harper
and his family spent their first night in Ottawa as he prepares for his new job
as Prime Minister (rumble, grumble, stupid Canadians!), politicians that
are retiring from office this year are going to cost Canadian Tax Payers over 3
million dollars every year, since most of them are getting close to $100,000
pensions (and yet they always grumble about the cost of crap and slash and cut
our health care, our education system, pension plans, social assistance
programs, social programs, and so on, and so on. Slash and cut the money that
actually goes into their greedy pockets for a change! rumble grumble stupid corrupt,
lazy, lying politicians!)
LB is going to be home again today. I'm calling the doctor to see if he does
have a throat infection or if we have to head back there for some more doctors
to look at him and attempt to figure out what the heck is going on. He's already
started his meds, so if it is the infection he'll be starting to feel better
sooner. If it isn't the infection than we'll stop the treatment and no harm no
foul.
Hubby and I have to head over to a meeting with the Co-Op board tonight. Yay,
member meeting last night, meeting with the board tonight. Doctor appointment
yesterday and on Friday yet one more appointment to head off to and then bam,
the weekend. Yay.
At the member meeting last night I was informed that the city is now doing an
investigation into their green bin program. They are going to be checking to
ensure that houses are in fact using the program properly. If not, there shall
be a fine. I think that we need to go out and get ourselves either a larger
green bin or another one. Yes, we use the program, but most times the bin fills
up so fast we end up having to put stuff into the garbage anyways. I like to use
the green bin program, it ensures that we get rid of food stuffs and other
vermin attracting creatures every week. Otherwise we have to wait for our once
every 2 week pick up. Which sucks. Although I have also just been informed that
Hubby and I are allowed to put some of our garbage with the buildings for pick
up.
I know that doesn't sound like such a great thing, but what it means is that we
are going from once every 2 week pick up to 3 times a week pick up if needed.
Great for the summer months when we may end up with stinky smelly garbage
sitting around.
Man, I'm sitting here looking at my house and I'm thinking to myself that there
sure is a lot of work to do. Having LB sick all weekend and so far this week has
made me into a not so tidy person. I sure do have a lot of work to get to. And
yet I just don't feel like getting to it just yet. Hmmm. I do have to go and
check what we are having for dinner tonight and make sure that anything that
needs to be defrosted is actually doing just that. Otherwise we could be in some
serious trouble come dinner time. Yes sir.
By the way, I thought I'd include my recipe for Spaghetti Casserole (I don't
know if it really can be considered a casserole, but my family loves it and I'm
not really caring if it's a casserole or not. It's good, that's all that
matters!)
Kat's Spaghetti Casserole
2 pounds lean ground beef
3 cups macaroni
8 cups stewed tomatoes
3 tablespoons favorite Italian spices
1 cup chopped onion
2 cans sliced mushrooms (small cans or one large one)
1 green pepper
2 cloves garlic, minced
3/4 pound tomato paste
mozzarella cheese
1 tablespoon sugar
In a large sauce pan brown the ground beef, mix in 1 tablespoons of spices
while browning.
Add tomatoes, onions, garlic, remainder of Italian spices,
mushrooms, green pepper, macaroni and tomato paste. Add water, a tablespoon at a time, if mixture
seems too dry. Simmer until macaroni is tender.
Just before pasta starts to become tender taste test the sauce, add sugar to
taste.
When pasta is just becoming
tender put the mixture into a casserole bowl or other oven safe container,
thinly slice the mozzarella cheese and layer it on top of the mixture. Put
into over at 350 degree F until cheese is melted, then turn on broiler until
cheese is beginning to brown. Remove from over, allow to sit for 5 minutes
then serve.
Voila, Kat's Spaghetti Casserole. You don't have to use the
elbow macaroni, I'm sure it would work just as good with other types of pasta as
well.
