I'm looking forward to watching the Olympics. Yay! I don't have a
clue who any of the athletes are, I just like watching the different events.
I love the luge and bobsled. Aerials are great as well as ski jumping.
And it all begins tonight, and I'm going to force my kids to watch too.
I know it wont be hard to make LB watch it. He seems to love sports,
no matter what it is. I bet the boy would sit and watch golf or
curling if I let him.
Yay Olympics!!!!
Ok, so I'm changing how I go about this diary. The
stupid stuff that goes on in my life will no longer be reported here. From
now on I'm going to try and write about interesting stuff here from now on.
No more, "I cleaned the house, washed some laundry, blah, blah, blah!" How
can you people stand that? Talk about boring.
So, I'm working on another place. It's almost set up, where I shall be
writing the crap of my life. That way if you are interested in hearing
about the stupid stuff that goes on in my life you can check it out, but if not
then you can just wait for a real entry.
All you who belong to Kat's Facts shall be notified whenever I write at the new
place. It may only be a once a day notification though. We shall
see.
The new place is Kathy's Crap.
Again, it's not finished yet. Still a few things to tweak there.
LB woke me up this morning at 3:00am (or close enough to it). That
meant that I sat on the sofa with him in my arms watching kids programming.
He was all happy and cozy, I was all sad and dozy.
He's happily sitting in his seat watching Sesame Street right now. My boy
loves Sesame Street, especially Elmo. That child is an Elmo Fanatic.
He'll be screaming and miserable, put something on with Elmo and he settles down
within a minute or so.
Dot loved Zoe, she thought Zoe was the beans. You don't see her that much
anymore, but when Dot was little, where there was Elmo there was Zoe. They
were always together, like 2 peas in a pod.
EB loved Elmo. In fact his first word was Elmo. When EB was little
Sesame Street was basically on all day, everyday. Well not on weekends.
On the weekends it was only a morning thing. But Sesame Street was on PBS
something like 5 times a day, then CBC had it on twice. That's 7 hours
right there. And remember, my kids had naps so basically every waking
moment had Sesame Street on.
Don't get me wrong, that doesn't mean that my kids sat and watched TV all day
long. We still went outside and played at the park, hit the pool and went
for walks in our neighborhood. It just means on the days when we didn't
get out my kids got pretty big helpings of Sesame Street.
I always had the TV on, we could be coloring, playing with blocks or modeling
stuff with Play Doh. Through it all Sesame Street was on. When a
song came on that we knew and loved, we'd stop what ever it was we were doing
and dance around the house singing the words at the top of our lungs. We
still do that with LB and he just sits back and laughs at us. I know as
he's watching his 34 year old Mom sing and dance around the house to the "Rubber
Duck" song or "C is for Cookie" or one of my personal favorites "I'm a Dog, I'm
a working dog, I'm a hard working dog" that my son is thinking to himself that
his Mom is one brick shy of a load, that she's got a few screws loose, that
she's one stop away from a permanent vacation at the nut farm.
But I don't care, because it makes my little boy smile and laugh, and that's
what my life is all about. Amusing my kids.
Some of my most favorite memories are from times that I made my kids laugh and
smile.
The times we spread out on the kitchen floor with a pile of coloring books and
crayons and spent one entire rainy afternoon just coloring together. And
how many Moms set up a small inflatable wading pool in the middle of their
kitchen floor, fill it with bubble bath and water and give their kids their bath
time there? I did. Many, many times.
I remember the first time my Mom saw bath time in the kitchen, she nearly died
on the spot. She couldn't believe that I was being that immature with my
kids. I replied, "What? It's not like it's Jell-O or something!"
She went three shades paler than she normally is and quickly fled the house.
Leaving me to chuckle and wonder if my kids would enjoy a Jell-O bath.
Just kidding, I never did that. Although I do believe that a 3 year old
would think a Jell-O bath was the ultimate in coolness and fun. I should
have done it for a birthday or something. Oh well. Too late now, at
9 and 11 they'd just think it was icky and I'd feel it was a tad perverted.
And LB, well I just think it would be far too hard to hold onto him once he got
covered in the slimy Jell-O. Oh well, I'll just have to wait a million
years until I'm a Grandma. My kids are going to love me. Heh heh.
Oh well, I'm off to move my kids bedrooms around. The boys are moving into Dot's room today and she's moving into theirs. The layouts will work better this way. And Hubby is setting up Dots new bed frame today. We got it at Ikea last night on sale, the bed normally goes for $80 and the slats for $20, that's $100 + tax. Last night the whole thing was on for $50 + tax. That's a good deal. It's unfinished, but I'm thinking that Dot and I can have some fun working on that together.
Well I've got to go and get to work now. Have a good day everyone.
