Woke up in the middle of the night, severe pain in my back, my stomach cramping. I knew right away what it was.
I was having a gall bladder/gall stone attack. Yup, all that cheese and fatty foods that I've been eating lately have come back to haunt me.
And I have no one else to blame but myself. Looks like I'm going to have to impose those diet restrictions once again.
I almost didn't get LB out the door this morning, well technically I didn't get him out, his Dad did. But I almost didn't get him ready to go on time. I was so close to calling and canceling him for the day, I was sitting there with the phone in my hand. But I looked over at his little frowning face and I realized that he didn't want to stay home with his Mom so I hurried my butt up and got him out the door.
I mean the way things look right now, as of tomorrow he'll be home with me for only god knows how long.
There may be a province wide strike by CUPE (Canadian Union of Public Employees) and what that means is that there shall be no snow removal, no garbage pick up and LB's school will be closing down, along with 82 others in the Toronto area.
This is province wide folks. No Garbage Collection in Ontario, peew. Thank god is isnt' during the summer months when we have those hot humid days. When we have municipal garbage strikes during the summer it's always a huge stink so I can only imagine what a province wide one would smell like.
This does provide a large problem for us though. Number one, LB was just starting to get back into the swing of things, so to speak. After being sick and missing so many days since Christmas things were just starting to look good again.
Secondly, our area has a rat problem. Not because it's a dirty, run down part of town. It's because this area used to be such a large industrial spot. We had large tracts of factory land. During the 80's these factories closed and lay empty for almost a decade. During that time the rat population boomed.
Then they tore down the buildings and left large vacant fenced in fields. Still housed many rats, and some spread out throughout the community as well.
Now they are doing work on some of those vacant lots, digging on some properties and building on others. This is causing the rats to become mobile again, in search of homes.
If we loose our garbage collection, what will that do to our rat problem??
Do you think CUPE would foot the bill for PCO?
